Doctor Love: Working Relationships and Bad Driving

Share

Dr-LoveDear Doctor Love,
Me and my wife have been arguing since Valentine’s day. She came home with a rose that her boss at work gave her. I don’t think that something like this is the right thing for a boss to give to his employee. People will start thinking that something is going on between them. She says that he bought one for her and the other two women in the office to show his appreciation for them. I don’t care about the other two women because I am not married to them. I don’t want my wife bringing things like this home and making people talk.
She knows I don’t like this kind of stuff because the same thing happened at Christmas. How can I get her to stop this kind of thing?

Dear Worker,
There is a part of society out there that is actually thoughtful of others. There are bosses out there who buy their employees small gifts to let them know that they are appreciated. It is all normal and natural until someone like you comes along. There are also husbands out there who understand these kinds of things. Be one of them. Shut up and quit your whining.

Dear Doctor Love,
I have traveled many countries and have seen lots of examples of bad driving. San Pedro ranks right up there with Mexico. If the people of Ambergris Caye drove cars instead of golf carts the death rate would be terrible. Drivers pass on the right and drive down the center line between oncoming cars. Is there any training required to get a Belize driver’s license?
And what’s with hanging the leg out of the cart while driving? Is that supposed to be cool or what?

Dear Kent,
The training method for future drivers seems to be watching all seven of the Fast and Furious movies. This is where you learn all of the proper driving techniques except how to hang your leg off of the cart.
The traffic commission gives copies of the type of questions that will be on the driving test. The real training needed is how to come up with the license fee.
As for the foot thing, it’s a case of the blind leading the blind. One person did it and the others started following like sheep. The law does allow you to hang your leg off the side of the vehicle while driving. You are only allowed to hang your right leg off, though.
