The Supplies Control Unit (SCU) of the Belize Bureau of Standards has received and confirmed reports of the sale of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) below the fixed controlled prices at several locations countrywide. The current fixed price regime introduced on June 15, 2020 establishes the following:

The SCU draws the attention of all distributors, operators and persons engaged in the sale of LPG to Section 3 (1) Subsection (b) of Chapter 293 of the Supplies Control Act that:
The Minister may make regulations –
( b) “for regulating or prohibiting the production, treatment, keeping, storage, movement, transport, distribution,exportation, importation, sale, purchase, use or consumption of articles or goods of any description,and, in particular, for controlling the prices at which such articles may be sold;
The SCU hereby informs those partaking in this illegal activity to desist as they are contravening the Supplies Control (Prices) Regulations (Statutory Instrument No. 88 of 2020). Continued violations will result in penalties being pursued to the full extent of the law.
