The Department of Youth Services (DYS) is pleased to announce Ms. Kylah Ciego as the new female CARICOM Youth Ambassador (CYA), Belize, 2017-2019.
Ms. Ceigo was chosen from among fourteen (14) other vibrant applicants. Youth Development Expert Henry Charles was the lead interviewer on the panel. Kylah has been active in youth development work through her involvement in student councils, a GoBelize member and was employed as a Social Worker where she was involved in working with incarcerated youth at the Belize Central Prison. Kylah was very instrumental in the consultation process for the development of the National Youth Development Policy. She recently obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Kylah strongly believes that in this era of globalization and connectedness we must be cognizant of the impact of our actions on others as we shape the type of world for future generations.
Kylah replaces former CYA H.E. Tarun Butcher, whose tour of duty ended on the 30th August, 2017. The male CYA is H.E. Andrew Munnings who was appointed in 2016. DYS takes this opportunity to wish both CYAs all the best during their tenure and remains committed to providing support to the CARICOM Youth Ambassador Program which is under the auspices of the Department of Youth Services.
