Last week, San Pedro Town bid farewell to former Officer in Charge of the Coastal Executive Unit Superintendent Sandra Bowden, who served both Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker for over a year. With Bowden now stationed at Belmopan City at the Belize Police Department Headquarters, Henry Jemmott has taken on the role as the new Officer in Charge (OC) of the Coastal Executive Unit.
According to Jemmott, being an OC requires a lot of dedication, patience, and promptness, which he believes he has. “This is actually my third time acting as the OC, and I am confident that this will remain as my position. I have strategic plans that will help improve the department, as well plans to deter crime,” said Jemmott.
Furthermore, in an effort to alleviate crime in the most active criminal zones on the island, Jemmott, along with the assistance of the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC), have installed a police substation in the San Mateo Area. This sub-station will be operational in the coming days and will serve to provide constant police presence in the area.
Jemmott continues to ask for the communities’ assistance in reporting criminal activities and assisting police in their investigation to make this island safer. However, he is more than confident that with the support of the San Pedro Town Council and the community of San Pedro, crime will be brought under control.
