On Friday, June 4th San Pedro Town celebrated Health and Care Day with a fair from 10AM to 4PM at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre sporting complex. The event was the joint efforts of the San Pedro Town Council, San Pedro Lions Club, and the Belize Red Cross San Pedro Branch.
The Health and Care Day fair aimed to inform the community about the different health services available. Educational booths included sharing information on good health, preventative medicine, first aid, and emergency services. Other services available included financial consultancy, massage therapy, self-defence, and yoga sessions.
There were also booths providing information on dental health, mental health, sexually transmitted diseases, vaccines (COVID-19), and women’s health. In addition, visitors could also learn about fitness, gender-based violence, nutrition, and self-care.  The community fair also included free screenings and assessments on the following tests for blood pressure, HIV testing, glucose, and urinalysis.
The event saw the participation of the local Red Cross branch, Lighthouse Ministries, Belize Coast Guard, Dentist Depart of the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II, Our Circle, Camp Starfish, Belize Fitness Club, DAN, among others. Each organization had its own booth set up with pamphlets and posters showcasing its information and services.
