Hon. Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics, and Mr. Marconi Leal Jr., CEO in the Ministry, concluded a two-day familiarization tour on Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye on May 5-6, 2021.
On May 5, Minister Ferguson visited Belize Water Services Limited, Belize Telemedia Limited, and the post office on both islands. Discussions were held with the officers in charge about plans to provide more efficient services to Belizeans and visitors alike.
Minister Rodwell also met with the traffic committees for Caye Caulker and San Pedro. The meetings focused on challenges such as parking, land and water taxis, and infrastructural developments.
The Minister concluded his tour by visiting the Port Authority in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. The visit focused on future expansion of the port to better accommodate transportation for commuters and freight services.
Minister Rodwell thanked the management of the offices visited for their ongoing work and committed to collaborating for enhancements and growth in the future.
Hon. Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, and Mayor Wally Nunez of San Pedro Town accompanied Hon. Ferguson in San Pedro. Accompanying the Minister in Caye Caulker were Ms. Seleny Villanueva, chairperson of the Caye Caulker Village Council, and Mr. Reymundo Nunez, chairperson of the Caye Caulker traffic committee. Also present on the tour were senior staff in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics.
