San Salvador. December 3, 2019.The Deputy Prime Minister of Belize Hon. Patrick Faber represented Belize at the Meeting of Vice Presidents of Member States of the Central American Integration System (SICA) in El Salvador.
Under the leadership and presidency of El Salvador, the meeting was part of the ongoing agenda of SICA member states to address issues of regional importance. The commitment of the leaders was underscored by the signing of a Declaration whereby member states recognized the importance of maintaining an open political dialogue that allows for consensus on issues such as the fight against poverty, the impact of climate change and natural disasters, sustainable development, security, education, culture, energy, tourism, gender equality, the rights of older persons and those with disabilities as well as the rights of indigenous peoples and people of Afro-descent.
The Central American Integration System remains committed to creating a region of peace, freedom, democracy and development for all and continues to engage all sectors of society, with special emphasis on the youth of the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by Ms. Margaret Juan, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Belize in El Salvador.
