On Friday, October 18th, the Ministry of National Security (Defense) hosted the 5th Annual Multinational Security Cooperation Conference at the Grand Caribe Belize Suites & Residences in San Pedro Town. The main objective of the conference was to share Belize’s national security strategic vision, accomplishments, and requirements with its allies and partners.
The cooperation dialogue emphasized security and military partnerships in the areas of capacity building, leadership, and management, as well as institutional strengthening for the Belize Defense Force, the Belize Coast Guard, and the Joint Intelligence Operations Centre. The keynote speaker, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry, Mr. Felix Enriquez highlighted that the Ministry’s strategic direction focuses on creating the best environment for Belize’s security forces to effectively fulfill their respective mandate. “We strive to transform the Belize security and defense enterprise into a modern agile force that is ready and capable of meeting the challenges of today and tomorrow. As our adversaries adapt at a rate that is near impossible to keep up with, we must do everything we can to see that they do not succeed,” he said.
The conference was attended by high-level foreign military delegations from Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
