The Krozser family presents donation to San Pedro RC School

The Krozsers, a family of five living in Warman, Saskatchewan, Canada made a kind donation to the San Pedro Roman Catholic School on Monday, January 1st. Their donation consisted of approximately 25 children’s books and school materials. The Krozsers first became interested in San Pedro through an online search for vacation destinations, investment properties and retirement destinations in the Caribbean. According to Dan Krozser, Belize was of particular interest to them as it is English speaking and appeared to be a less commercial destination.

The family made their first visit to San Pedro in late April and early May of 2011. Krozser commented, “We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to San Pedro. One of the most enjoyable aspects of San Pedro was the smiles and hospitality so evident in those we met. Having a young Belizean man walking down the street greet us with a heartfelt “welcome to Belize” and “welcome to San Pedro” was extra special. Around every corner there seemed to be another smile and another story to be told by one of the diverse elements of San Pedro’s culture. Many of those stories had sad elements but there always seemed to be the theme that San Pedro was a place they were happy to be.”

The Krozsers left San Pedro looking forward to a second visit. As to how their donation to the SPRC School came into play, Dan commented, “My wife Guylaine was reading the Ambergis Caye message board and found that there was a need for books in the schools on San Pedro. This was of particular interest to her, as we are all avid readers. As Guylaine works as an educational assistant in the school system in Canada, she was able to purchase books at a teaching supply book fair as well as obtain free pens, erasers and book marks. We packed a number of these books and school supplies into each of our suitcases. We asked our friend Kenny Brackett, who we met on our first visit to San Pedro, to put us in touch with one of the principals at the Catholic school so we could donate these. We were grateful that he was able to arrange this for us and hope the children of San Pedro enjoy reading them.

The books were accepted by a very happy Rosella Guerrero, Vice Principle at SPRC, who will ensure that the books are properly used.
