Share

Dear Editor,
On Oct 19 and 20th, the Board of Directors of Marco Gonzalez Maya Site AC, Ltd. (MGMSAC, Ltd.), and Belize Institute of Archaeology (IoA) hosted children from San Pedro Town elementary schools and First Form High School to a program of learning about the ancient Maya. Students, teachers and a few parents and guests totaled 657 at El Patio Restaurant over the two-days to hear a fun and informative presentation by Mr. Antonio Beardall and staff of the Research Department, IoA. The children were rewarded with a Q&A ending by receiving items from IoA for the correct answers. Following the presentation, they viewed a large display of artifacts from excavations from five of the 21 Maya sites of Ambergris Caye, including Blackadore Caye.
MGMSAC, Ltd. would like to thank our sponsors and workers for the wonderful success of the event. Those included are: Ministry of Education SP Education Officer Odelia Caliz, El Patio Restaurant family and staff, NICH/IoA, Bowen & Bowen, media houses The San Pedro Sun, Ambergris Today and Reef TV, SP House of Culture Mito Paz, Dr. Kay McCarron, MGMSAC President Peter Nolan and wife Leslie, as well as workers MGMSAC employee Jerry Choco, Peter C. and Terrance H. IoA Research Dept Toni, Josue and Paul – you were wonderful! Everyone’s contributions helped to make the event run smoothly and efficiently. We look forward to 2018 for another educational event for our children and family. Thank you again. Tropical Regards, Jan Brown, Chairman of the Board, MGMSAC, Ltd.
