Held at the Lions Den from 7PM, the party was dedicated to the hardworking police officers who ensure the community’s safety year round. In addition to celebrating the officers, this year, members of the island community who constantly assist the Police Department were also invited. Everyone at the event enjoyed a delicious meal, refreshing cocktails, and, of course music and dancing.San Pedro 2016 Police Appreciation Party-25
Before the true party started, a short ceremony was held to present Certificates of Appreciation to six persons who always offer a helping hand to the San Pedro Police Department. The six awardees included Mayor Daniel Guerrero, Area Representative and Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr., President of Tropic Air John Grief III, Owner of SuperBuy Enrique Staines, Police Constable William Reyes and Caribbean Queen. “These awards are to show our gratitude and appreciation. These are key people in our operation, we are constantly seeking their assistance and they never fail to assist us,” said Deputy Coastal Executive Officer, Assistant Superintendent Henry Jemmott.
Addresses from the Officer in Charge of the Coastal Executive Unit, Mayor Guerrero, and Honorable Heredia were also given at the event. “While crime in not eliminated here in San Pedro, it has gone down in the past year. This speaks well of the officers here in San Pedro and also of the citizens. That shows that we are all committed to keeping crime down and making the island safe for those who live here and those who visit. So I wish to thank everyone who contributes to the island safety whether you are a police officer or a community member,” said Superintendent Sandra Bodden.San Pedro 2016 Police Appreciation Party-1
Honorable Heredia also expressed sincere appreciation towards the police officers and pledged his continued assistant. “I am very proud of the formation we have in San Pedro. I think they have done a fantastic job. They respond to every call that is made and are very hardworking. But at the same time we need to thank the community, because they always respond when the call for help is there. Crime is everyone business and if we work together we can have a safer San Pedro for everyone,” said Heredia.
The last person to address those in attendance was Mayor Guerrero. “The San Pedro Town Council is committed to work with the San Pedro Police. We are always willing to help because it is an incentive for the business community to also help. And I think here in San Pedro, the business community never hesitates to assist in any way possible. I feel that my relationship with the police is very strong; communication is there and that is vital to get things done,” said Guerrero. He ended by pledging to assist the Police Department in improving their vehicular fleet by donating two motorcycles in the coming months. Guerrero’s donation announcement was received with a roar of applause in appreciation.San Pedro 2016 Police Appreciation Party-2
