There’s another Belizean product turning heads and teasing palates in the international market arena and already it’s made a name for itself at the 14th Annual San Francisco World Spirits Award held from March 20th-23rd. Tiburon Rum, a double barrel aged rum from the shelves of Belize’s Traveller’s Liquors stood out among the 1,474 spirits submitted by distillers and importers from 63 different countries.
Tiburon won over the palates of 39 top spirit professionals and won Bronze in the esteemed award competition held at Hotel Nikko in downtown San Francisco, USA. The judges included renowned spirit experts, spirit journalists, spirit buyers, and spirit conveyers who all fell in love with the handcrafted spirit developed by Basil DeStefano for Belize’s Traveller’s Liquors. Tiburon is the spanish translation for shark, a majestic creature that symbolizes the tropical spirit of the country -the same way the spirit does. The semi-dry rum delivers light hints of vanilla, complimented by hints of salty caramel, ripe banana, butterscotch and lastly toasted oak, a probable result of its double barreled maturity process whereby it’s first casked in a American Oak whiskey barrel and then moved on to a Kentucky Oak Bourbon barrel giving it it’s rich golden color.
Tiburon Rum is sold exclusively in the United States at $34.99USD per bottle.
The San Pedro Sun congratulates Tiburon Rum and Traveller’s Liquors on this great accomplishment.
