Mexico Donates Football Shoes to Belizean Youths


Belmopan City, November 2009 – The Embassy of Mexico handed over twenty pairs of football shoes to the organization Poor and Famous Culture Club for children and young people of Belize City Southside. The handover was held in Belize City on Saturday, 31 October, to Larry Sutherland, Director of Poor and Famous Culture Club, and some of the members of the children and teenage football teams of this organization. The shoes allowed them to play at the under 13 and under 15 football marathon hosted by Belize Action Community that started on 4 October 2009.
The football shoes were donated by the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Chetumal, Mexico(CANACO-SERVYTUR) This support represents the Chetumal business community contribution to fostering sports and recreational activities among Belizean young people, as well as in solidarity and the friendship between Mexico and Belize.
Poor and Famous Culture Club promotes the healthy development of children and young people, focusing on sports and other extracurricular activities that encourage team work as well as diverting their attention from the violence of the streets. The organization expressed its gratitude for Mexico’s support and called the public to continue the support of this kind of projects.
