While details are still shortcoming, The San Pedro Sun understands that at approximately 4:30am on Monday, July 25, 2011, a call was placed to the San Pedro Fire Department that there was a fire at the San Pedro Roman Catholic School.
When the firefighters arrived, they found a palapa structure on fire on the school compound. The palapa, made of wood and thatch (palm leaves), had burned halfway through. The cause of the fire is unknown, but according to fire chief Jerome Garcia, their investigation continues.
