Kent “Bob” Gabourel of the Kulture Megabytes team won the Weekend Warriors Cycling Club’ Mount Hope race, a grueling 40-mile hills climb from the Rockville junction to the Busman Arnold Hill at Mile 63 on the George Price Highway on Sunday morning, February 21.
Bob won the A category, in which Daniel Cano of the Santino’s team finished 2nd and Bob’s teammate Preston Martinez took 3rd place. Jack Sutherland of the DigiCell 4G team was 4th, while Warren Coye and Kareem Flowers, both of the Santino’s team, took 5th and 6th place respectively.
Steven Robinson of the Caribbean Tires team won the B category in 2:03:28, forcing Clarence Tesecum of the F.T.Williams team into 2nd place. Gilberto Acost of the Spinnaz team was 3rd, while Santiago Cus and Ryan Willoughby, both of the SMART Zoom team, took 4th and 5th places respectively. Robinson’s teammate Joe Mckoy finished 6th.
Enrique Morales of the Caribbean Tires team won the C category’s 30-mile race which started at La Democracia, in 1:40:10. Edward Blank of the Stationery House/Medina’s Jewelry team was 2nd, and Morales’ teammate Michael Wagner was 3rd. Hewald Humes and Frank Moody, both of the DigiCell 4G team were 4th and 5th respectively, and Morales’ teammate Alphonso Morales was 6th.
The Weekend Warriors’ next race comes up on Sunday, March 6, a 40-mile ride from Orange Walk Town to Yo Creek Village; and the next race in the hills series, will be another 40-mile climb from Mile 10 on the George Price Highway to Armenia Village on the Hummingbird Highway on March 20.
