The Ministry of National Security regrets to announce that around 12:41 pm on October 4, 2012, in the Ceibo Chico area, Cayo District, Belize, some seven (7) miles east of the Belize/Guatemala border, there was a shooting incident involving the BDF resulting in one fatality.
The deceased is believed to be a Guatemalan citizen.
Members of the Police Crimes Investigation Branch have been deployed to the scene of the incident. Accompanying them are officials from the Organization of American States (OAS) and a representative of the Guatemalan Embassy in Belize.
