U.S. Embassy Delivers Tactical Equipment to the Belize Police Department Mobile Interdiction Team

On May 6, U.S. Embassy Belmopan delivered tactical equipment and gear to the Belize Police Department Mobile Interdiction Team (MIT) in Belmopan. The equipment, valued at over $27,000 USD, was donated by the U.S. International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
Attending the handover were U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Keith Gilges, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, and MIT Commander Jefferie Garbiel. The Belize Police Department Mobile Interdiction Team is an INL-assisted specialized unit that plays an integral role in Belize’s efforts against transnational criminal organizations.
Chargé Gilges stated, “This donation of tactical equipment by the Government of the United States underscores our nation’s firm commitment to supporting Belize as it seeks to protect its national borders and combat international criminal activity.”
The donation included tactical gear, uniforms, and other equipment, which will enhance the MIT’s future interdiction efforts.
