The Belize Police Department has released a list of fines associated with certain criminal charges. Any person charged for the below offense and found guilty in court will subsequently be required to face the charges.
Possession of an article with point (e.g. ice pick) – fined $100 plus a court cost of $5, in default (i/d) one month imprisonment
Aggravated Assault- if defendant found guilty, sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment
Drugs
Possession of 0.6 grams of cannabis- fined $75 plus court cost of $5, i/d three weeks imprisonment
Possession of 119 grams of cannabis- if defendant is found guilty is fined $1,500 plus court cost of $5, i/d three years imprisonment
Drug trafficking of 73 grams of cannabis- fined $10,000 plus court cost of $5 must pay $2,000 forthwith, i/d three years imprisonment. The balance I to be paid by the end of the year, failure is three years imprisonment
Possession of 20.4 grams of cannabis- fined $100 plus court charge of $5, i/d one month imprisonment
Possession of pipe- fined $100 plus court charged of $5, i/d one month imprisonment
Possession of 1.4 grams of cannabis- if defendant pleaded guilty is fined $100 plus court charge of $5, i/d one month imprisonment
Possession of 59.7 grams of cannabis- if defendant pleaded guilty is fined is fined $1,000 plus court charge of $5, i/d six month imprisonment
Possession of 3.7 grams of cannabis- if defendant pleaded guilty is fined $100 plus court charge of $5, i/d one month imprisonment
Possession of 26.5 grams of cannabis- fined $200 plus court charge of $5, i/d two months imprisonment
Public Drinking
Drinking alcohol in a public place- fined $50 plus court charge of $5, i/d two weeks imprisonment
Vehicles
Cause a motor vehicle to proceed in a one way street- fined $100 plus court fee of $5, i/d one month imprisonment
Drove a motor vehicle without being the holder of a Belize Driver’s License- fined $50 plus court cost of $5, i/d one month imprisonment. Both sentences to run con-current
Bicycle offenses
Rode bicycle without a light- fined $25 plus court charge of $5 to be be paid forthwith, i/d week imprisonment
Cause bicycle to proceed in a one way street- fined $100 plus court charge of $5, i/d two months imprisonment
Rode bicycle without bell- fined $25 plus court charge of $5, i/d one week imprisonment.
