Burglary
*Two persons have been arrested and charged in connection to two separate burglaries. 53-year-old Karen Young reported to the San Pedro Police that on Friday, December 12th her house was burglarized. Stolen from her home were two silver MacBook Air laptops valued at $5,200BZ, a pair of Adidas Shell top tennis shoes valued at $150BZ, a pair of Air Jordan tennis shoes valued at $400BZ, Blue Costa sunshades valued at $325BZ, a pair Timberland tennis shoes valued at $400BZ and an 83GB external hard drive valued at $800BZ. The missing items amounted to $7,605BZ. The second burglary took place on Wednesday, December 17th, when 50-year-old Benedict Kim reported that his resort room was burglarized. He stated that he left the room and when he returned he noticed his HP laptop Valued at $850US, Canon digital camera valued at $2,000US, NEXUS tablet valued at $200US, Nokia cellular phone valued at $150US and cash were missing. All items amounted to $3,400US.
As a result, police carried out investigations and formally arrested and charged 34-year-old Jose Linarez for two counts of Burglary. Further investigations led to the recovery of the HP laptop, the Canon digital camera, NEXUS tablet, Nokia cellular phone, 83GB external hard drive and the two MacBook Air laptops. As a result 22-year-old Gregory Lopez, who was found in possession of the items, was formally arrested and charged for Handling Stolen Goods.
Unlicensed Ammunition and Possession of Controlled Drugs
*On Monday, December 22nd at 4:30AM, acting on information received, a team of San Pedro Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and Special Branch (SP) personnel conducted a search in an apartment located in the San Pablo Area. The apartment was occupied by 27-year-old Pablo Sosa and 24-year-old Vini Avella. The search led to the discovery of a transparent plastic bag containing 0.3 grams of suspected cocaine and five Aguilla brand live rounds of ammunition. Both persons were formally arrested and charged jointly for Kept Unlicensed Ammunition. In addition Sosa was also charged separately for Possession of Controlled Drugs.
Possession of Controlled Drugs
*On Sunday, December 21st at about 4:45PM while San Pedro CIB and SP personnel were conducting a patrol on North Ambergris Caye they observed a Mazda pickup vehicle travelling in the northern direction. The vehicle was stopped and searched. In the vehicle was 26-year-old Jairo Orellano, 38-year-old Hector Espat, 26-year-old Ronald Mai, 33-year-old Marlin Chaneck. The search led to the discovery of a small transparent bag containing 18.8 grams of suspected cannabis. The subjects were formally arrested and charged for Possession of Controlled Drugs.
*On Saturday, December 20th at about 4:20PM while San Pedro CIB and SB personnel where conducting a patrol on Coconut Drive, a Kia Sportage Taxi was stopped and searched. The vehicle was driven by 46-year-old James Johnston. The search led to the discovery of a transparent plastic bag containing 1.1 grams of suspected cannabis. Johnston was arrested and charged for Possession of Controlled Drugs.
Aggravated Assault
*On Friday, December 19th at about 8:15PM police responded to a stabbing incident that had occurred in the San Mateo Area. As a result, police visited Ambergris Hope Medical Clinic where they observed 24-year-old Feliciano Rosalez suffering of an apparent stab wound to his back and another stab wound to his right butt cheek. Rosalez was later transported to the Dr. Otto Rodriguez Polyclinic ll for further treatment. Investigations revealed that Rosalez had been stabbed during an altercation with a person identified only as “Ruben”. Rosalez has since been transported to the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital where he is in a stable condition. Police investigations continue.
