Police have dropped criminal charges on six out of the seven culprits that were arrested for the possession of a pipe on Friday, October 17th. 21-year-old Alexis Alvarenga pleaded guilty to the charge before the San Pedro Magistrate Court on Monday, October 27th. With the culprit identified, Prosecutor Corporal #1037 Allan Woods, dropped all charges on 40-year-old Claudia Cabañas, 40-year-old Edgar Cabañas, 19-year-old Diannie Cabañas, 21-year-old Laura Valencia, 21-year-old Nayelie Cabañas and 31-year-old Jaime Campos who were charged because of being present at the time of the search.
The case was brought to the Magistrate Court after the persons were arrested and charged during a search made on a special anti-drug operation, which resulted in the discovery of a silver and green metal pipe measuring 3.25 inches suspected to be used for smoking cannabis. Alvarenga was found guilty for the crime of “Possession of a Pipe” contrary to Section 12 (b)(i) of the misuse of Drug Act of Chapter 103 of the Substantive Laws of Belize Revised Edition 2003. For his crime, Alvarenga was fined $300 to be paid by Saturday, November 15th.
