Sometime around 8PM on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, San Pedro Police and PolyClinic Doctors were summoned to an area just off the beach south of the San Juan Roundabout where they discovered two injured males. The doctor on duty noticed that they were suffering abrasions to the head, and asked that they be taken to the clinic for further treatment.
24-year-old Marwin Lizama and a 46-year-old (whose name is being withheld until family members are notified) were treated and released after no open wounds were observed. The 46-year-old had a swollen right eye along with his other injuries, and seemed to be the most seriously wounded. However, he was released into the care of a friend, with the doctor making frequent checks on him throughout the night.
Both police and doctor made a follow-up visit to the gentleman on the morning of Thursday, October 11th, where they noticed that the 46-year-old was unconscious. He was rushed to the clinic where arrangements were made to fly him out to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH). He remains at the KHMH in a critical and unconscious state.
According to Lizama, both gentlemen had been socializing on the beach not far from where they were discovered, and it was there that they were assaulted and beaten. Police are investigating.
