Every three months, the San Pedro Saga Humane Society tries to find homes for their sheltered dogs and cats. All those beautiful and friendly animals eagerly await to be placed in the perfect home that will give them the love and affection they long for. At such, members of Saga held an adoption drive on Saturday, March 19th in an attempt to find loving owners for adorable pets.
The event was held from 2PM to 4PM next to Fairdale Plaza, facing the busy Coconut Drive. Saga members were out in full force trying to attract potential pet owners to adopt a pup or cat. Slowly as the day progressed, passers-by stopped by and met some of the various cute creatures available.
“We are very happy to be here today doing our best to find homes for these well – deserving animals,” said Dawn LoCascio a member of Saga. “We will never stop caring for these beautiful creatures.”
According to Ingrid Lima from Saga, the adoption drive was successful as some potential adoptions took place. “We had a Terrier Mix and a mixed Pekingese that were adopted and sent to their owners in Placencia,” said Lima. “We were also able to get three more dogs in the process of adoption, and as soon as their new owners get processed, they will be on their way to a new home.”
The two hour adoption drive captured the attention of many, even tourists and potential new residents of San Pedro. One couple in particular fell in love with Beethoven, a huge male Mastiff -Shar Pei mix who was surrendered by his owners some time ago. According to Lima, when the dog first came to Saga, he was in such bad condition from neglect that he had to undergo several surgeries. Before Beethoven can go to a new home, he must undergo one more final surgery.
If anyone missed Saga’s adoption day, you don’t need to wait another three months for a chance to adopt a puppy. The Saga Humane Society is located on Sea Star Street and is open from 9AM to 5PM Monday to Friday. At any time during their business hours, kind staff will be more than willing to assist in the selection and process of acquiring a new pet.
Kudos to Saga for their continued effort to look after our furry friends!
