Six beautiful island ladies have embarked on a journey for a chance to be the next Miss San Pedro 2016-2017. The first step of the experience was the official sashing ceremony held on Monday, July 25th at El Patio Restaurant. Six candidates were presented to their sponsors: Marisha Thompson sponsored by Jaguars Temple Night Club, Beverly Rodriguez, sponsored by Captain Shark’s, Karina Requena, sponsored by Castillo’s Hardware, Lisandra Novelo, sponsored by Ramon’s Village, Marleni Diaz, sponsored by Fidos Courtyard and Pier, and Heidi Sorto, sponsored by La Sirene Resort Spa and Marina.
The event started shortly after 7:00PM when all contestants made their entrance. Hosts Yakarelis Hernandez and Manuel Ancona led the delegates’ introduction to the audience. All six young ladies shared their joy in being part of the pageant, sharing some of their future aspirations with the gathered crowd.
Mayor Daniel Guerrero spoke next, giving a few remarks on the pageant and thanking organizers for putting the pageant together annually. Guerrero further mentioned that this year’s September celebrations budget has increased, which means the Miss San Pedro Pageant will benefit as well. He commended the participants’ enthusiasm. “You are all winners,” he declared.
Immediately following the Mayor’s remarks, it was time to present the delegates to their sponsors. Representatives from Jaguar Temple Night Club, Captain Shark, La Sirene Resort Spa and Marina, Ramon’s Village, Fido’s Courtyard and Pier, and Castillo’s Hardware picked their delegate names from a jar, pleased with the contestant they each ended up sponsoring. Each delegate was then presented with a sash, after which they mingled with guests.
Hernandez and Ancona closed the night off, thanking each sponsor for their continued support. Special thanks is given to El Patio Restaurant and Lounge for hosting and catering the event, and to all the girls for participating and dedicating their passion and time to one of the island’s most anticipated annual events.
The pageant is set for Saturday, September 3rd at the Honorable Louis Sylvester Sporting Complex.
The San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) and Miss San Pedro Pageant Committee cordially invite everyone to the pageant for an evening of beauty and elegance. The Miss San Pedro title is currently held by Iris Salguero.
