Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation Holds Meetings with U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires and British High Commissioner

On Monday, March 15, 2021, Hon. Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, held meetings with Mr. Keith Gilges, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the U.S. Embassy Belize, and H.E. Claire Evans, British High Commissioner to Belize, to discuss the Ministry’s vision and contribution to Belize’s economic growth.
During his meetings, Minister Perez discussed department goals under the Ministry of Blue Economy and explored how each sector contributes to the production of work under the new Ministry’s vision. Additionally, he discussed the importance of tourism with respect to economic growth and its potential for development in new innovative areas to expand the tourism sector as well as the enforcement of maritime laws and the security of sea space.
Minister Perez also discussed the Ministry’s development in future years and reiterated its commitment to the development of the tourism sector and the sustainable use of environmental resources to ensure Belize’s safety.
The Minister was joined by Kennedy Carrillo, CEO of the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation. The British High Commissioner was joined by Maxine Monsanto, Climate Change Policy Adviser at the British High Commission.
