Foreign Minister Bids Farewell to Mexican Ambassador

On September 22, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Wilfred Elrignton met with outgoing Ambassador of the United Mexican States to Belize, H.E. Mr. Carlos Quesnel Melendez, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belmopan.

The Minister recalled his first encounter with the Ambassador who, at the time of his arrival in Belize, shared very focused and precise objectives for his tenure. Minister Elrington commended the Ambassador for his active work to successfully achieve those objectives, registering tremendous progress in the bilateral relationship between Belize and Mexico.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the productive outcomes to date and exchanged views on pertinent issues crucial to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Minister Elrington expressed optimism about the prospects of the already strong and longstanding ties.

In closing, the Minister presented the Ambassador with a Key of Friendship in honor of his professional and personal accomplishments, reflected in the genuine friendships that he leaves behind, and wished him and his family every success in his next assignment.

Ambassador Quesnel, who is also the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, will be concluding his mission in Belize next month. He was appointed Ambassador to Belize on February 5, 2015.
