The Belize Fisheries Department through the Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and Sustainable Development hereby informs the general public that the World Heritage Centre (WHC) in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is on a mission to Belize during the week of January 19-23, 2015. The objective of the mission is to provide technical assistance for the design of a Desired State of Conservation for the removal of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System from the List of World Heritage in Danger. 
During their visit, the team will be consulting with various government agencies and stakeholders to discuss three main items:
1) Main conservation issues threatening the World Heritage Site;
2) The requirements for the design of a draft proposal for the Desired State of Conservation for the removal of the property from the List of World Heritage in Danger; and
3) Socio-economic needs and requirements to ensure the sustainable development of the Property’s ecosystem.
