San Pedro’s mothers were delighted on Saturday, May 13th, with an extravaganza of entertainment courtesy of the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC). The annual Mother’s Day celebration at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Arena saw various performances, tons of giveaways, and the best of local music to dance the evening away.
The traditional celebration started at 7PM with Mayor Gualberto ‘Wally’ Nuñez welcoming all the mothers and Miss San Pedro Faith Edgar to the event organized for them. They were all treated to a turkey dinner and pampered by the SPTC staff who tended to them. There were musical numbers by the San Pedro Dance Academy, and Master of Ceremonies Gerry Badillo conducted a program that included raffles, with some mothers taking home giveaways and other fabulous prizes.
The main event of the evening was the Valentina Campos show from Chetumal, Mexico. This interactive performance brings laughter, humor, and musical interpretations of famous singers such as Alejandra Guzman. The mothers in attendance enjoyed every bit of the show, and near the end of the performances, the mums joined the Valentina show on stage. There was a dance competition presided over by the performers who judged the best dancing mother. In the end, the best dancer walked away with a grand prize.
Following the main event, Councillor Adaly Ayuso announced that Isabel Salazar was selected as the 2023-2024 Mother of the Year. However, she was not present to receive her award, so the Mayor will visit Salaza this week to give her the prize. The festivities continued with the performance of Caribbean Kings.
The SPTC thanks everyone who joined them in celebrating Mother’s Day. They acknowledge all sponsors, volunteers, students, Miss San Pedro Faith Edgar, Gerry Badillo, the performers, and everyone who contributed to the show. A BIG thank you to all, and let’s celebrate our Mothers every day!
