The Salvadoran Community held its third annual picking of Miss Salvadoran Community on Saturday July 16th at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium. The pageant is a fundraiser activity. The winners are chosen by votes, each dollar is equivalent to 100 votes.
The event, scheduled to start at 5pm began around 8:30pm with a welcome by El Salvador’s Ambassador to Belize, Mr. Julio Parada. The night was filled with games, drinks, entertainment and a variety of Salvadoran food.
Vying for the title were Ms. Kristy Yvette Medrano, Ms. Jessica Rosybell Aguilar, Ms. Jaqueline Michelle Hernandez, Ms. Wendy Ochoa and Ms. Rosy Seleni Magaña.
At the end of the night, after votes were tallied, the winners were as follows: in first place, representing Victoria House, Ms. Jessica Aguilar with 97,708 votes; following close behind in second place was Ms. Kristy Medrano representing, My Secret Deli with 96,702 votes; followed by Jaqueline Hernandez representing Tropic Air, Rosy Magaña representing Milo’s Center and Wendy Ochoa representing Lily’s Restaurant.
Funds collected from this and other fundraisers go towards assisting the Salvadoran Community as well as the community at large in various ways, including education and medical expenses for those that may not otherwise be able to afford it.
