San Pedro Junior College (SPJC) has grown dramatically in alumni since its inception 13 years ago. SPJC was created to provide quality tertiary education in a convenient location for students working in the day while attending classes at night.
This year students were welcomed back with a fun orientation night on Friday, August 23rd. President of SPJC, Angel Nunez delivered an inspiring speech, where he challenged the students to strive for success. He also urged them never give up on their goals and aspirations. The students were also briefed on new the new rules and regulations of the institution that will be implemented in order to maintain the quality of the school up to par with the other tertiary schools in Belize. Among these new regulations were dress code policies and student conduct.
After the formalities were over, it was time for the students to have a little fun and get to know one another. Students enjoyed fun games inspired by the game show “Minute To Win It” that is aired on Game Show Network (GSN). These tricky games required single participant to complete tasks in one minute. A fun yet challenging game was “Bolt Stack”, players has to stack ten stainless steel bolts using only a pencil. Another fun game was “Sticky Situation” where participants had one minute to land ping-pong balls on three slices of bread cover in peanut butter from a distance of three feet. The games were surely fun, but the main event came at the end of the night where second year students took on the first year students in a friendly volleyball match.
The night was a great success. Students and faculty expect a productive school year. Wish all new and returning students the best in their continued pursuit of a higher education.
