Drug Trafficking
San Pedro Police have charged two persons for the crime of “Drug Trafficking”. According to a report issued, 24-year-old Delfina Romero and 27-year-old Jeffery Navarette were found in the possession of a large amount of drugs after their apartment was searched on Tuesday, March 3rd.
Initial investigation revealed that a team comprised of San Pedro Criminal Investigation Branch, Quick Response Team and Special Branch personnel conducted a search at an apartment in the San Pedrito Area around 11:40PM. Special information had been received that Navarette and Romero were in possession of drugs. The search led to the discovery of a black plastic bag containing a transparent bag with 4.9 grams of suspected cannabis. Further search conducted on the floor of a closet revealed a hidden compartment. In the compartment police found a black plastic bag containing 27.6 grams of suspected crack cocaine and four parcels containing 468 grams, 372.7 grams, 513.4 grams and 38.7 grams of suspected cannabis, respectively. The total amount of drugs found amounted to 1,397.7 grams of suspected cannabis and 27.6 grams of suspected crack cocaine.
Navarette and Romero were formally arrested and charged jointly for two counts of “Drug Trafficking”. Navarette was also separately charged for “Possession of Controlled Drugs”.
Discharging Firearm in Public
On Tuesday, March 3rd, at about 11:50PM, a 26-year-old woman of San Juan Area visited the San Pedro Police Station and reported that about 11:30PM she was walking from a store towards her home in the San Juan Area when she observed two male persons following her. She quickly went home and headed straight upstairs. When the same two men passed and one of the men fired a single gunshot in the air.
Police have since detained 18-year-old Alex Espat and a 17-year-old minor. Espat is pending charges for Discharging a Firearm in Public.
