Abandoned and homeless animals of San Pedro were treated to a special Christmas gift this year when Father Christmas himself stopped by the SAGA Humane Society bearing gifts of dog and cat food along with toys.
The donation was presented by Forrest Jones, Director of the San Pedro Animal Foundation and was the product of the SPAF working in conjunction with the Lawrence family in memory of the late Sarah Lawrence who passed away earlier this month.
Lawrence held a special place in her heart for pets and her son Peter commented that through-out the years all of their family pets came from local pet shelters.
In lieu of flowers and wreaths, it was Lawrence’s wish that cash be donated. A total of approximately $2000US was collected. This coupled with a very generous donation of $500BZ on behalf of Lawrence by Tom and Jan Droke, parents of San Pedro Veterinarian Dr. Laurie Droke, provided for a very generous donation to the animals of SAGA. According to the SPAF, this will be a yearly donation to SAGA on behalf of Lawrence.
This year the pets received seven cases of assorted cat and dog food along with toys. According to Forrest, “Christmas is all about giving, and the orphans that SAGA looks after need presents as well.”
