The fire station on the island located on Pescador Drive, next to the police station, is experiencing changes and upgrades to service the island community better. Some of these upgrades improve working conditions which have been possible with the partnership by the business community and other stakeholders. As such, the management and staff thank all those involved in the different activities, donations, and fundraisers aimed to benefit their facilities.
While the fire station and some of the headquarters are repainted, offices like those of Chief Orin Smith have been relocated to the second floor of the building. Smith said he and his team would continue working closely with the community and be as prepared as possible when an emergency arises.
To acknowledge everyone who has supported them, Smith wrote a thank you on behalf of this team. “We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to all fundraiser organizers and supporters for their contribution to the upliftment of the working conditions at the San Pedro Fire Station. Although there remains much work still to be done, your contribution has helped significantly. We are very, very grateful.”
The fire station management also warmly thanked Alex Eiley of Caribbean Queen for his steadfast support to the National Fire Service and the San Pedro branch. “Your contribution to the service is well received and duly appreciated,” the note read.
The island fire department also took the opportunity to thank all sponsors of the 2023 Fire Extinguisher, First Aid, and CPR Training held on Saturday, April 22nd, at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre, commonly known as Saca Chispas Field. They made special mentions to the San Pedro Town Council, Office of the Honourable Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, Island Emergency Services, Rickilee Response Rescue team, Fabrigas Belize Limited, SP Hardware, and Ramon’s Village Resort.
The fire station has always felt the love of the community. In December 2019, Casa de la Caye Villas donated fire trucks to better equip the growing island municipality. The San Pedro Fire Station welcomes visitors and can be reached at 206-2372.
