New Ambassador takes the reins of the Taiwanese Embassy in Belize

The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize has a new ambassador. He is His Excellency (H.E.) David Kuan-Chou Chien. On his first working day on Monday, March 22nd, Chien presented his letters of Credence to the Governor General of Belize, H.E Sir Colville Young. On behalf of his government, Chien pledged to promote mutual interests and strengthen the relationship between Belize and Taiwan.

According to the Taiwanese Embassy in Belize, Chien said will continue promoting the robust, cordial, and mutually beneficial diplomatic ties between the two countries. The Governor General welcomed Chien and his delegation and reiterated that Taiwan is a staunch friend and supporter of Belize’s development.

Former Ambassador H.E. Remus Li-Kuo Chen returned to Taiwan a couple of days ago after being in Belize for two years and four months. Before leaving, Chen thanked Belizeans and friends who gave him the opportunity to work together to consolidate their shared value in democracy and safeguard their ways of life. Chen was also a very good friend of San Pedro Town, where he visited on more than one occasion.

Taiwan is one of Belize’s strongest and closest international allies. Both countries started diplomatic relations in 1989.
