ComPol Williams warns against Easter gatherings

On Wednesday, March 10th, Commissioner of Police (ComPol) Chester Williams issued a stern warning regarding social events/gatherings for Easter. In a press release, the ComPol said that such activities are still prohibited under the current COVID-19 regulations.

ComPol said that it has come to the Belize Police Department‘s (BPD) attention that some individuals and businesses are currently advertising major social events for the Easter weekend. “These persons and entities are hereby warned that, as the regulations stand, these events are strictly prohibited,” part of the release said.

In addition, the general public is advised that they are not to attend or partake in any of these events. The police will be out in full force, enforcing all COVID-19 regulations. Anyone found attending or partaking in any of these events will be dealt with to the full extent of the law.

The BPD calls on all citizens to work with them by ensuring full compliance with the implemented measures to ensure the country stays free from the COVID-19 virus. The release ends by stressing, “We are here for you to ensure that we keep our country COVID-19 free.”
