San Pedro Town sign gets finishing touch

Share

San Pedro Town will soon have an official sign adding to the beach’s aesthetic at Central Park. Works on the project have been swift, with just minor details left to be done. According to the San Pedro Town Council, the sign is a joint initiative in partnership with the island’s business sector.

Mayor Daniel Guerrero said that the project has been in the pipeline for some time and finally came to fruition thanks to the business community. “There will be a plaque acknowledging members of the business community who sponsored the project,” he said. While some residents questioned the sign’s priority versus helping those grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, Guerrero indicated that this addition to Central Park was one of his goals before leaving office.

The sign, which features the town name at the base, received a fresh touch of paint and its beautiful hued letters capture everyone’s attention. It is expected to be a welcome feature for visitors and a favorite spot for photo taking with the Caribbean Sea as the backdrop.

Guerrero added that another sign would be installed at the Boca del Rio beach park. The sign for this location will also be a contribution from the private sector. The sign is already built and sits near the town council’s building at Cocos Locos food court’s previous location. The Mayor said they would lift the sign from where it is cemented and polish it before it is placed at the Boca del Rio beach.
