The staff of the Belize Tourism Board has once again come together to reach out to help those in need during the COVID-19 crisis. This week BTB’s staff made a financial contribution to the Belize Red Cross to assist families in Punta Gorda, Toledo.
This is the third community outreach initiative facilitated by BTB’s employees who have made a commitment to provide assistance in several different areas of the country. So far the contributions made by BTB’s staff have benefitted close to 200 families in Calla Creek, Belize City and Punta Gorda. This week’s effort with the Belize Red Cross provided assistance to 35 families in Punta Gorda. Recipients of the grocery packages included the elderly, persons who lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic and single mothers. The packages included an assortment of grocery items such as oats, custard, milk, ovaltine, ensure, baking powder, flour, rice, beans, sugar, toilet paper, tea bags, tuna, peanut butter, salt, canned soup and cheese.
The Belize Red Cross Society is a voluntary aid organization which has been at the forefront of responding to numerous events that have affected many communities throughout Belize. The staff and volunteers of the Belize Red Cross have assisted in times of hurricanes, floods, fires and diseases. They have been focused on HIV awareness programs, relief and rehabilitation of victims,
as well as special activities to assist the needy, the elderly and children.
BTB’s staff was pleased to partner with the Belize Red Cross who assisted with the packaging and
distribution of the grocery items.
