Share

As part of its commitment to assist families in need during this very difficult period created by COVID-19, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) this week partnered with Water Walkers Boys & Girls Club to provide groceries to 50 needy families in Belize City. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the BTB recognized that it was imperative to reach out to help those most in need. On this premise, BTB’s staff has come together to donate towards community outreach initiatives in several different areas of the country; there will be two outreach activities each month for three months. The first was accomplished two weeks ago in the Cayo District in collaboration with Ms. Khadija Assales, a local jewelry artisan, and the Cayo Tour Guide Association.
This weeks effort with Water Walker Boys & Girls Club provided assistance to 50 families. The grocery packages included items such as toilet paper, macaroni & cheese, eggs, sausages, flour, rice, beans, clorox, soap powder, water, milk, hand soap, oil, oats, and ramen. The Water Walkers Boys and Girls Club is an outreach center situated at No. 24 Albert Street, Belize City. Established in 2012, the Club serves over 400 children in the immediate community feeding 150 children daily, including single mothers, the homeless and school dropouts. In addition, the Club provides an after-school program for homework, improving reading skills and the arts; weekly youth meetings, recreational sports, family, drugs and abuse counseling and support to women fellowship groups. All of the Club’s services are provided free of charge to the public.
The BTB was pleased to partner with the Water Walkers Club as they strive to eliminate hunger in communiites throughout the city during these challenging times.
