Danae Bejerano wins 2017 Dental Week Poster Competition

Share

On Friday, October 27th, as part of Dental Week activities, the Dental Department of the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II organized a poster competition among the primary schools on the island. The competition was a means of raising awareness on dental hygiene among the young students.
Children had to create a poster that illustrated this year’s theme: “Many different languages, but a beautiful smiles speak them all.” Students from different primary schools participated, with the top three winners from San Pedro Roman Catholic School. First place went to Danae Bejerano, while second place went to Derick Nuñez and third place to Ryan Ramirez.

“I believe this is something good for children of the island, as it helps them to learn more information of how to take better care of their teeth. Every year, we have more and more children participating in this competition,” said Dr. Irma Zuniga of the Polyclinic.
During Dental Week, the dental department raises awareness and provides information on how to maintain healthier teeth across Ambergris Caye. Other activities included presentations, competition, giveaways, dental checkups and more.

The dental department would like to thank competition organizer Carmen Medina, as well as all the children that participated in this year’s poster competition, and hope to see them the next year. The Dental Department offers dental checkups every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II. Tuesdays the service is limited to pregnant women and on Thursday, the department goes to different schools around the island. For more information, please call 226-2536.
