Blue Water Grill (BWG) has released their monthly donation report, and in July 2016, BWG opted to adjust their original donation proposal to help aid the June 26th fire victims. BWG and its sister business, The Phoenix, donated $20,361, with both businesses matching the first $2,500 donated. In total, $25,361 was raised; $7,500 was distributed to the San Pedro Lions Club and $5,500 was shared directly to families who were impacted by the fire. BWG will be working along with the San Pedro Lions Club to determine the most effective means of distributing the remaining funds to the fire victims.BWG donates to Fire Victims-1
BWG also recapped on the donation of the Electrocardiogram (EKG) machine to the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic. In March 2016, BWG and The Phoenix raised funds for the machine, and bought the needed machine that was later donated to the clinic. According to BWG, a total of $4,146.86 was spent on the EKG machine, and $1,877.14 is now left over. The remaining funds will be used to purchase more supplies and equipment for the polyclinic.
“We believe in transparency and accountability, so we want to review the math for that EKG machine. Our customers donated $2,896, which we matched 100%. Guests of The Phoenix donated $117, which The Phoenix matched. So, in total, we raised $6,024 for the EKG machine. The machine cost $3,679.10 plus $476.76 for customs fee, taxes, port fees, and delivery,” said a BWG representative.
For the month of August, BWG will be raising money to support a new after-school program, the San Pedro Kids Club, organized by Lions Vice-President, Britney O’Daniel. The program is set to commence in October, and will run on Mondays through Thursdays, from 2:30PM to 5:30PM at the Honorable Louis Sylvester Complex.
All students from Standard 1 through 4th form in high school are eligible to register for football, softball, volleyball, or arts and crafts. BWG will match the first $2,000 donated, along with The Phoenix.
BWG thanks all of their great customers who help make a difference in San Pedro. If you wish to contribute, donations of any amount can be made in person at BWG during normal business hours or online at www.bluewatergrill.com/community
