On Saturday December 19th, Caribbean Villas hosted a ladies holiday charity lunch under the theme “Little Black Dress.” Despite the rainy weather conditions, the ladies showed up to support the event which benefitted SHINE Girls Club, an island program established to empower, motivate and build the self-esteem of girls ages 13-16.The event kicked off a bit late, due to rain but nevertheless saw the group of ladies enjoying great conversation over assorted beverages. For the cost of $85BZ, attendees were treated to a complimentary drink, appetizers, meal options including Caribbean seafood bacalao, grilled jerk style chicken, and a cashew pesto salad. Dessert options included decadent chocolate brownies and key lime pie.
A percentage of each ticket and bar sale directly benefitted the girls group. Throughout the afternoon, raffle tickets were also being sold. For only $10BZ, the ladies had three chances to win fabulous prizes, including massages, yoga sessions, manicures, beauty treatments, round trip airfares to Belize City, paddleboard rentals, and so much more.
At the end of the afternoon, event coordinator Ti Southwell thanked all the ladies for their generous support and a fabulous afternoon. S.H.I.N.E coordinator Michelle Nunez then took the opportunity to share a bit on how the group works to build esteem and shape healthy images for young adolescents and teenage girls. She also thanked Southwell for having made S.H.I.N.E the first recipient of the charity event.
The total proceeds raised was $1,100BZ. Caribbean Villas plans to make the luncheon a quarterly event for various charities. The generosity of all sponsors is greatly appreciated, including each vendor that donated gift prizes/certificates, event decor and music.
