Former Maya Island Air and current United Express pilot, Arthur John Hoy Jr, has been admitted to the prestigious Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airmen Certification Database. This certification is given only to pilots who have met or exceeded the high educational, licensing and medical standards established by the FAA. Hoy, who is originally from Belize City has set a positive example for other young aspiring Belizean pilot.
The FAA Airmen Certification is only given to pilots that meet a rigorous standard set in consultation with the aviation industry and the public. The pilots are among the highest ranked in the world in safety measures aimed at reducing pilot errors that lead to fatal crashes. FAA pilot certification can be the difference between a safe flight and one that ends in tragedy. “Safety will be my overriding priority as Secretary, so I am especially pleased to mark my first week by announcing a rule that will help us maintain our unparalleled safety record. We owe it to the traveling public to have only the most qualified and best trained pilots,” said Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx in a press release.
Hoy is listed in the FAA Airmen Certification Database under unique ID A4251292.
The San Pedro Sun joins the rest of the Belizean community in congratulating Hoy on such a momentous achievement!
