Cadets from all districts will assemble at the two-week camp which comprises of lectures, foot drills, sporting activities and field trips among other disciplinary and physical practices.
Shane McCann is currently the President of the San Pedro Police Cadet Corps and Freddy Gonzalez is Vice President. The San Pedro Police Cadet Corps is currently headed by PC Juan Chuc, community officer #971/drill sergeant. To date, the core is made up of 25 members, ages 7-14, but will be accepting new recruits in October. For the cadets, the corps has provided them with an outlet to develop discipline, civic pride, and even provides academic support through homework assistance. The cadets have monthly meetings and are scheduled to conduct a community clean-up with the South Ambergris Neighborhood Watch in October.
