The Next Miss Belize films in San Pedro

The Next Belize pageant is scheduled to take place on Saturday July 7th at the Bliss Institute for Performing Arts starting at 7pm. Vying for the coveted title are nine beauties from across the country of Belize. This year, the Queen of the Jewel has teamed up with NICH, BTIA and Love FM to bring the entire journey into the homes of Belizeans countrywide in the form of a reality show. Follow the girls as they go to their various home towns and become a tourist ambassador, showcasing the various destinations that their individual home locations have to offer.

Competing for the title of “The Queen of the Jewel” and the opportunity to be Belize’s Beauty Ambassador and compete internationally are:  # 1- Port Loyola Belize City- Maryam  Quwiyy, #  2- Punta Gorda- Charlyn Flowers, #3-    Freetown Belize City- Audralee Enriquez, #4- Corozal – Christine Dominguez; #5 – Orange Walk- Negril Crawford; #6-  Orange Walk Arbunie Clare; #7- Belmopan- Jasmine Baiza; #8- Caye Caulker – Jenna Bernard; #9 Dangriga – Tonya Barillas and #10- Destiny Arnold representing Roaring Creek in the Cayo District.

Leading up to the show, the ladies will be travelling to their various home towns, while being given various challenges that they would need to tackle. The Belize Tourism Board has joined in and will be using this as a venue for showcasing the various tourist attractions the country has to offer. The series will portray the journey of the nine beautiful delegates up to the actual competition to become the next Miss Belize.

The Next Miss Belize will be Belize’s Beauty Ambassador for Tourism. This entails travelling with the BTB to the various trade shows that they attend through the year of her reign as the Queen of the Jewel. Further to this, she will also receive the opportunity to compete internationally, representing Belize. In San Pedro, the girls were filming the third episode of the reality show while being hosted by Banana’s Beach Resort and by X-Lounge during their All White Luau and playing volleyball on the beach for that episode’s competition.

What are the requirements to be the next Miss Belize? According to host Amy Alamina, “You should be eloquent, you should be beautiful – you should be the total package – somebody that will represent Belize Well.”

On a weekly basis, viewers will get a chance to vote for their favorite contestant via Smart Text Messaging. Episodes are aired in Belize City on Wednesdays at 7PM on Love TV, while in San Pedro Reef TV will be airing the shows as of Thursday June 28th. Text the contestant’s code (corresponding to above list) to Queen (78336) via your Smart phone to vote for your favorite contestant. Prior to the live pageant, the votes will be tallied and the winner will be granted an automatic spot in the top five list of contestants moving onto the finals.

Activities leading up to the pageant include: Top Model Competition and Fashion Show to take place at the Midas Resort in San Ignacio, Cayo on Saturday June 29th starting at 8pm. General admission is $15 and reserved $20 and A Rose for Our Lady Cancer Benefit at the Biltmore Plaza in belize City on July 1st from 11am through 3pm leading up to the grand final event at the Bliss on July 7th at 7PM.
