70 proud students marched to the tune of Pomp and Circumstance at the R.A. Nuñez Auditorium on Saturday, June 11, 2011. The 2011 graduating class of San Pedro High School (SPHS) saw 20 Honor Roll students, and in particular, one highly decorated and well-rounded individual: Lucio Solomon Nuñez. Lucio received Honor Roll, highest marks, Student of the Year and Valedictory awards, which he accepted with his customary grace and humility.
Salutatorian was Cindy Novelo, while the Vote of Thanks was given by Roxette Santos. Special invited guest speaker for the evening was Celi McCorkle. The theme for the night was definitely encouragement, as both Ms. McCorkle and Lucio encouraged all gathered to believe in themselves, and to never allow anyone to discourage them from achieving their dreams.
Congratulations indeed to the 70 SPHS graduates, and The San Pedro Sun joins the proud San Pedro community in wishing them the best in their future endeavors.
