Benque Police Graduation

On 5th December, 2008 between the hours of 11:00 am and 11:45 am closing ceremonies were held for members of the Belize Police Department attached to the Benque Viejo Police Sub-Division who graduated from a Basic Introduction to Spanish Language Course. The course lasted six weeks and 13 Officers graduated. The Valedictorian was P.C.481 G. Martinez who was given a prize in recognition for his hard work and dedication, and outstanding performance throughout the course. Sr. Supt Paul Wade O.C. Cayo Police, District and Supt. Dezerie Phillips O.C Benque Viejo Police Sub –Division and Ms Ana Castellenos the Spanish teacher were present along with member of the media and the public. Master of ceremony was W/Sgt # 408 A Pook. Supt. D. Phillips thanked Ms Castellanos for a superb job done with the officers and explained that the purposes of the classes was to help officers who speak little or no Spanish to be able to communicate better with Spanish speaking members of the community . The trained officers will now be able to be more time efficient when a person who speaks Spanish visits to make a report. A certificate of appreciation was also handed over to both officers by O.C- Benque Viejo
Police Supt. D. Phillips and each were handed their photograph, which was placed on the photo gallery inside the Recreation Hall. Lunch was served thereafter.
