Restructuring Plan for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise

Share

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise has concluded a two-day planning exercise aimed at restructuring the Ministry for optimal operational efficiency.
The exercise was held at the Ministry’s main conference room in Belmopan and included leading members of the different agro-industrial sectors in Belize. The main aim of the exercise was to ensure that there is a clear alignment of goals for all sectors under the Ministry for the short-, medium- and long-term, as well as strategies to achieve these goals and ensuring that resources in the Ministry, both human and material, are optimized.
The exercise was a result of the familiarization tours undertaken by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, Hon. Jose Abelardo Mai, and his senior management team. The tours allowed for the awareness of the situation of the Ministry and the evident need to chart a new way forward to face the challenges encountered by the country in a post-COVID-19 environment. With the Government of Belize’s commitment to ensure that agriculture plays a key role in the rejuvenation of the economy, the Ministry embraces a plan where key players and sectors are activated for optimal production. This is in keeping with the Plan Belize campaign policy on agriculture, which promised “to increase, diversify and sustain agricultural production, food security, income and employment generation in Belize.”
The plan for the restructuring of the Ministry, once completed, will be presented to the wider Ministry and key stakeholders for buy-in and participation.
